Abstract

SILVA, Regina Broco Lima da; LIMA, Norma Silvia Trindade de  and  FERNANDES, Renata Sieiro. The wheel of conversation in early childhood education: whisper instrument amplification or the voice of the child?. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.3, pp.1001-1019. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.14244/198271992181.

The article reflects about silencing and/or the amplification of the childrens’ voice through the conversation circle as an educational tool in the space of early childhood education. The methodology is qualitative and data construction techniques are: participant observation in a private school, the total observation in an early childhood education center - CEI - diary of field, semi-structured interviews and childrens’ drawings. Data analysis is based on Oriolo, Siste, Larrosa, Kohan, among others. The study allows to affirm that the educator in a children education space, when freed from rigid and deterministic movements, leads the child to be an active subject. The talk wheel as a pedagogical tool collaborates with singularization when it amplifies the child’s voice and also when it potentiates and disseminates democratic practices and provides the exercise of qualified and responsive listening. Besides, it allows to review ways of thinking and doing in the educational space beyond childhood education (0-6 years), but contributing to the education of children (0-10 years).
