Resumen

The present study makes a systematic literature review of national and international scientific articles on human rights education in the Portal Periódicos Capes and LILACS databases, in the period between 2011 and 2015. The criteria for analysis were: 1. periods that the studies were published; 2. country/region of author(s); 3. nature of the study (empirical/ theoretical); 4. objectives and main results. Forty-four articles were selected between national and international ones. The results show the predominance of publications in education and health. Psychology is the most requested area for publication and São Paulo (n = 08) and Rio Grande do Sul (n = 08) are the states with the most publications. The theoretical studies (n = 28) appear in greater number than the empirical ones (n = 16). When it comes to the objectives and results of the studies, the data show that there are common and divergent themes in the national and international studies. There are 12 thematic categories in national studies: human rights education; Sexual and reproductive rights; Sexual diversity; Public safety / justice; violence; citizenship; health; the racial issue; democracy; rights of children and adolescents; the rural context and the indigenous issue. Studies in foreign languages thematic categories were divided, which are: democracy; human rights education; sexual and reproductive rights; prison system; the indigenous issue. It is concluded that democracy, children’s and adolescent’s rights, the rural context and the indigenous issue, are areas with a more significant lack of studies, and so future research on these themes is suggested.
