Abstract

ARAUJO, Aline Soares Storch de  and  AFONSO, Maria Lúcia Miranda. Human rights education in early childhood education: formation of subjects of rights. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.1, pp.46-60. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.14244/198271991887.

Human Rights Education - the subject of countless documents, programs and national and international public policies, and which aims to contribute to build a society based on the respect for human dignity - is not yet part of the practice of many schools, especially on Early Childhood Education, an elementary step in the process of education for citizenship. From this perspective, based on literature review, this article aims to promote the reflection about the incorporation of the values and principles of Human Rights Education in the usual practices of early childhood education. This reflection should follow the debate regarding teachers’ concepts about childhood and human rights. Moreover, it shall consider the importance of specific training for the teachers, one that will be able to help them to develop a work capable to contribute for the solidification of children´s humanity and citizenship. The Human Rights Education transmits values associated with practices, activities, attitudes, stories and games for students, individually and in groups.
