The learning of alimentation in the preschool stage is a key factor to the subsequent development of eating habits. This not only refers to the daily meals, but also to the ability of childhood education to implement proposals that help to accept those foods that tend to cause a greater rejection. The objective of the article is to enhance the understanding of alimentation in the first stage of life in order to try, accept and comprehend both cooking and foods as part of the cultural background. Thus, examples such as fruits or vegetables are products that represent the basis of healthy eating habits, which at the same time tend to be some of the food groups that children like the least. The article proposes a set of initiatives that aim at integrating fruits and vegetables into the daily routine of childhood education activities. It refers not only to the alimentation itself - with a menu proposal - but also to a way of acquire knowledge about the social and cultural meanings of food - for example, with regards to the seasons -. This study may imply further research in terms of practical assessment of the proposed activities, which would allow to obtain evidence on their effective contribution to the development of eating practices.
