This article aims to discuss the process of deploying two schools in Presidente Prudente/SP: the first school group and the first college. Based on primary documentation (press, pictures and interviews), the results help to understand the obstacles and challenges for the construction and expansion of education in the region. Created in 1925, the first school group of the city went through a long history of thirteen years, involving various sectors of society, so you could have erected a building to the state advocated. Also in the case of the first initiative superior schools in the municipality, the Faculty of Philosophy, Science and Letters, inaugurated in 1959, was a strong movement for the construction of a building that meets the search for teacher training. In both cases, it is remarkable commitment of the population to the growing demand for school education were upheld by the state government.
