The text comes to questions the theme of the traditional history teaching a theoretical perspective offered by the research of the history of the discipline and its relation to memory. Through the History of Brazilian Education in the nineteenth century, recognizes the institutional field of memory which sets the contents to be taught as a school history through textbooks and suggested that the problem of memory is not limited to a matter of pedagogical nature, but involves theoretical aspects that bind to the historiographical field and the field of epistemology of history.
