Abstract

VIEIRA, Letícia  and  DALLABRIDA, Norberto. Experimental classes in the Secondary Education: the pioneering work of Luis Contier (1951-1961). Cad. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.2, pp.492-519. ISSN 1982-7806.  https://doi.org/10.14393/che-v15n2-2016-3.

In this study, we aim to understand the pioneering work of Luis Contier on the implementation of the experimental classes in the Brazilian secondary education during the decade 1951-1961 by putting the focus on the experience led by him at the Institute Alberto Conte and the appropriated classes nouvelles. On the other hand, we explore the use of this educational experience by the Board of Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education (MEC), as it enabled the legal prescription of experimental classes in the secondary education from 1959 on. To this end, we peruse the school culture as from the concepts of strategy and tactics of Michel de Certeau, using as sources: manuscripts, newspaper reports, and documents from the Alberto Conte Institute of Education and the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Keywords : Experimental Classes; Secondary Education; Luis Contier.
