Abstract

This paper presents some questions about the Classes Integrais of Colégio Estadual do Paraná, a pedagogical innovation proposals of Brazilian secondary school realized between the ends of 1950s and the middle of 1960s. Locating the experience developed in Paraná in all the other nationwide initiatives that met the Classes Experimentais denomination, are showed particularities of the Classes Integrais highlighting contributions to reach the transformation of secondary school, in particular regarding the democratization of access to this level of education and the need to stop being exclusivity of upper classes. The Classes Integrais of Colégio Estadual do Paraná developed a curriculum adapted to the conditions of students and the demands of a democratic society in ascending phase of industrialization, urbanization and changed by new scientific discoveries.
