Abstract

This article has as purpose to understand, through bibliographic and documental analysis, the operation of Ouro Preto’s Normal School since it’s creation in 1835, until his suspension for the second time, in 1852, noting specifically for your moments of crisis and restructuring. For analyzing the data it is concluded that the instability of the institute in the indicated cutting was mainly due, to the inefficiency of the adopted teaching methods, the lack of qualified teachers, and the alleged shortage of government funds for the operation. However, you can’t fail to consider the relevance of Ouro Preto’s Normal School as one of the first attempts to build effective specific training for primary teachers in Minas Gerais.
