BORDOLI, Eloísa. From an integral culture to culture as integration. An analysis of study plans in Secondary Education in Uruguay (1935-1963). Cad. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.3, pp.1118-1145. ISSN 1982-7806.  https://doi.org/10.14393/che-v15n3-2016-11.

This article presents an analysis of the curricular documents at Secondary Education (ES) in Uruguay during the period 1935-1963. Two events define this time scope: the segregation of ES from the University of the Republic, and the implementation of a new curriculum design. These events, of different nature, mark a new institutional profile, as well as movements and condensation of new ways of understanding ES, the value of culture and the role of education subjects. The signifiers reform and culture emerge associated to ES since its first configuration as an autonomous institution. Plans and syllabi express these changes of meaning and the different role the teacher, the student and the culture begin to acquire in the ES doctrine. Study plans and official documents of the period are analyzed to collect the required data for this research.
