Abstract

FILGUEIRAS, Juliana Miranda. Textbooks for a new school scholastic: the MEC books of General History. Cad. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.3, pp.1170-1186. ISSN 1982-7806.  https://doi.org/10.14393/che-v15n3-2016-13.

The article analyses the MEC Books of General History and the methodological guide for teachers published by Fename (School Material National Foundation). The Foundation was responsible for the educational materials production, which would be distributed or sold at cost price to brazilian schools students and teachers. This material tries to understand the production purpose of these textbooks, who were their authors and which was the discourse about the school and the history teaching produced. The analysis allowed us to observe that the MEC Books of History formed part of a project of the Education Ministry (MEC) to reduce the education cost, on the accelerated school expansion. Thereby, the MEC has partnered with Teaching UFRJ (Rio de Janeiro Federal University) teachers for the textbooks development. These books and methodological guides, exposed a teaching proposal that established an entire routing for practice teachers and students.
