This article is intended, from the conceptual categories surveillance and punishment, to analyze the strategies that guided the process of meeting the specific ways of being male subject child, in eighteenth-century Portuguese context, prescribed in the treated A aia vigilante, ou reflexões sobre a educação dos meninos, desde a infancia até á adolescencia (1767), authored by D. Joanna Rousseau Villeneuve. This treateds is framed in literary category known as Literature Social Behavior, published increasingly in Portugal in the eighteenth century. They were teaching manuals of good behavior and virtues, usually based on Christian-Catholic morality, which were characterized by recommend and prescribe certain norms of social behavior and moral teachings.
