In this paper we describe a teacher's book, used in 1962 in the Province of Angola in order to guide the education of students in the 1st year of elementary school in this rural region. This book shows how the teaching for students who started school attendance in rural areas including indigenous children. In the book we can find didactic aspects of avant-garde relative to what it was in continental Portugal at that time.
