Abstract

The article promotes a brief inventory on the category of ethnicity in the field of the History of Education, observing the publications in the periodicals Revista História da Educação (UFPel, 1997), Revista HISTEDBR On-line (UNICAMP, 2000), Revista Brasileira de História da Educação (SBHE, 2001) and Cadernos de História da Educação (UFU, 2002). The period of investigation was delimited between 1997 and 2011, considering the first decade of circulation of each magazine. The journals were chosen by the profile of their publishers and consultants, researchers of recognized scientific merit in the field. Regarding the results found, it should be pointed out that the articles dealing with ethnic and education issues represent on average 4% of all publications, varying this percentage according to the characteristics of each journal. Regarding the theoretical-methodological orientations, we adopted bibliometrics tools to consult the journals in digital format in addition to the bibliographic discussion.
