The article analyzes the possibilities of creating the field of research History of Mathematics Education. For this purpose, it addresses, initially, the processes that give rise to the creation of new disciplinary fields. It then evaluates the movement of research on the history of mathematics education in order to verify the limits and possibilities that are given for the creation of a new field, covering such subject matter. Finally, it analyzes processes of internationalization of the research in the history of mathematical education and its role of the constitution of the new disciplinary field. As a result of the study it is concluded that the process of internationalization of research in a scientific field provides thematic concentration, this possibility proves important for the debate and refinement of the original problems that justify the very existence of this field. This process is underway for the History of Mathematics Education.
