Abstract

HAMDAN, Juliana Cesário. For an objective sensitivity: Tavares Bastos and Education in the Empire. Cad. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.16, n.3, pp.788-800. ISSN 1982-7806.  https://doi.org/10.14393/che-v16n3-2017-14.

The following text was written with Aureliano Candido Tavares Bastos with four hands. It began when he wrote, in 1866, the list of notes that would express his ideas about instruction in the Empire, and continued with me, as a historian, through a certain form of historiographical operation. Here, in 2017, I rewrote his notes trying to recover what kind of logic, thoughts and ideas could be sustaining the notes made by the politician. For this purpose, the text was written in the first person singular, as it was written by the author, most of the time, when referring to himself. In addition to an update of discourse and language, it is a narrative that seeks to make the presence of the subject emerge with greater force and to place the presence of the historian or interpretive categories at the most imperceptible level possible.

Keywords : Tavares Bastos; Manuscripts on Education; Production of Presence.
