Abstract

PEREIRA, Indiamaris; SEHNEM, Paulo Roberto  and  MANSKE, George Saliba. Statements about deafness in brazilian informative virtual portals. Rev. Reflex [online]. 2020, vol.28, n.2, pp.21-43.  Epub July 09, 2025. ISSN 1982-9949.  https://doi.org/10.17058/rea.v28i2.14040.

The present study aimed to problematize textual marks of phonocentric metanarrative that can diffuse and perpetuate colonially constructed meanings about deafness in national public discourses. The methodological theoretical framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) was used. It was evident that the deaf subjects were not brought to the textual surface and neglect of what the deaf themselves think or say about themselves and softening the neglect committed with such subjects. The effect of meaning produced in these headlines reveals that it is the listeners who are allowed to narrate deafness and thus evidences the permanence of metanarrative practice in the deafness discourses.
