We discuss here the potential of hip hop as an educational tool that helps in the deconstruction of the systems of oppression established from colonialism. To do so, we analyze the life story of a Rapper and sociology teacher in basic education. His trajectory reveals aspects of how coloniality manifests itself throughout the life of a black youth in the Amazon. However, it also demonstrates how the hip hop culture offers resources that allow analyzing and criticizing this pattern of power, which led our interlocutor to redefine the directions of his life, leading him to the teaching profession and to assume a professional role, both in the artistic field, as well as teaching, critical and decolonial.
