This article analyzes how Science Fairs can be an opportunity for learning and for the formation of a scientific identity in the context of Basic Education. The objective is to analyze the scientific understanding of students who were granted junior scientific fellowships, who took part in the “Feira de Ciências do Território do Alto Paraguai”, in Mato Grosso, Brazil, in 2016. The specific objective was to find, in this event, the characteristics of the scientific comprehension triggered by the valuing of knowledge. The data obtained from the documents of the students (projects and reports) revealed that, besides being an important event, fair is a mediatory methodological education strategy and encourages scientific activities through the socialization and exchange it enables.
