Abstract

GAUDIO, Rogata Soares Del. MAPS AS DISCOURSE AND THE MAP'S DISCOURSE: A FEW ISSUES. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2003, vol.5, n.2, pp.125-138. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172003050205.

This paper aims to analyze the discourse present in political maps in small escala. The theoretical framework for this analyses come from the field of discourse analysis. If the maps play a role of "mystification", this role is presented as "neutral and scientific", characteristics apparently present in the process of elaboration of the maps. Moreover, the "mystification" results from the way they became more familiar to us, in geography classes at school, as well as in the press.

Keywords : discourse analysis; ideology; politic maps in small escala; geography..
