TRUDEL, Louis; REIS, Giuliano  and  DIONNE, Liliane. INCIDENCE OF STUDENTS' CHARACTERISTICS ON THEIR LEVEL OF MOTIVATION TO PARTICIPATE IN A SCIENCE FAIR. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.3, pp.17-35. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172012140302.

Science fairs are more and more popular among young pupils. The present study aims to identify the factors that can influence their motivation to participate in such events. To this end, we created a questionnaire intended to measure the degree of motivation of the participants in the Canada-Wide Science Fair. Our results indicate that participants are very motivated. However, and contrary to previous research, we also found that their degree of motivation is influenced by their age and grade. We conclude by acknowledging the limitations of our study and suggesting areas for subsequent research.

Keywords : Science fairs; motivation; questionnaire..
