This paper is a survey conducted in a rural school with teachers and students of Grammar School in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. This study aimed to analyze the possibility of reframing the practice of teaching Science and Mathematics by using research within the school community as a pedagogical tool. The research uses a qualitative approach along with participative observation, a field diary and interviews, determining that a teacher with training of research is a significant opportunity for fostering inquiry, intervention, transformation of environmental issues and the social contradictions of rural life as well as the reframing of teaching practices.
