Abstract

BARBOSA-LIMA, Maria da Conceição de Almeida  and  GONCALVES, Carla de Oliveira. Non-formal education and training of teacher for the visually impaired. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2014, vol.16, n.2, pp.167-183. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172014160209.

We report the development of an instructional design using the method of ‘atelier’ of Schön, in a discipline called Physical Education and Social Inclusion. A group of visually impaired students from a school in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro was taken to Campo dos Afonsos to see a real Bandeirante aircraft. The activity was divided into two phases: the first, in the auditorium, students and their companions were told about the Brazilian aviation history and the sustainability of an aircraft; and the second, in the hangar, where the students could grope one Bandeirante and occupy the control booth. We conclude that offering the opportunity of real action to undergraduate teachers, even if not in a formal teaching situation, was good for their training.
