ALMEIDA, Sheila Alves de  e  LIMA, Maria Emília Caixeta de Castro. Scientists in a magazine: einstein, darwin and marie curie inside ciência hoje das crianças magazine. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.29-47. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172016180202.

This work analyzes articles from Ciência Hoje das Crianças magazine's three editions, where Einstein, Darwin and Marie Curie are presented. Facing the challenge of spreading the life and work of these scientists to children, to analyze the magazine's articles we consider language used, images presented and especially the magazine's representation of scientists. The analysis' methodology of the material is inspired by Bakhtin's work on dialogism and understanding through discursive procedures, verbal and visual, with which the magazine challenges and dialogues with children. The results show that the publication chooses to put into focus the childhood of scientists and an image of a curious scientist and adventurer. However, the emphasis on some typical aspects of childhood are linked to a stereotypical view of the scientist as someone who was already an announced scientist. We reiterate the importance of Ciência Hoje magazine as a reading promotion material and democratization of science communication language for children.
