This paper aims to narrate the participation in practices of diverse communities to analyze how identities are (re)negotiated in these contexts. Initially, using an interpretation of the construct community of practice, proposed by Etienne Wenger, the chapter “The Committee Race and a Long Tale” from the book “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, authored by Lewis Carroll, will be analyzed with the purpose of producing an illustrative image of this construct that can be used as a lens that allows us to see how identities are (de)constructed when we participate in social practices. Then, throughout the study, life stories intersect with those of Alice, in a process that seeks to tighten the dichotomy between Literature and Science.
