Abstract

DAHMOUCHE, MÔNICA SANTOS; PIRES, ANDREA MAIA GONÇALVES  and  CAZELLI, SIBELE. THE MUSEU CIÊNCIA E VIDA INVESTIGATES ITS PUBLIC: TEACHERS. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2020, vol.22, e13514.  Epub May 22, 2020. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172020210115.

The main purpose of this paper is to know the expectations and experiences of the teachers who visited the Museu Ciência e Vida during its first years of activities. Based on Wagensberg and Melguizo, besides the research of cultural habits of the population of Duque de Caxias, we investigated teacher’s practice of visitation to museums, also considering the antecedents of the visit, teacher’s opinion, demographic and sociocultural profile. The challenges imposed by these visits were discussed to optimize communication with this audience segment, making the Museum a more socially inclusive space. The research results are motivating and surprising, since it was evident that the teachers feel contemplated by the educational activities offered by the Museu Ciência e Vida.
