Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Valéria Aparecida de  and  SILVA, André Coelho da. A LITERATURE REVIEW ON STUDENT DROPOUT IN PHYSICS INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING COURSES. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2020, vol.22, e11969.  Epub Nov 19, 2020. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172020210141.

In this paper we try to answer the following question: what are the characteristics of the works that address the phenomenon of dropout in Physics Initial Teacher Training courses? For this, supported by Discursive Textual Analysis, we review theses, dissertations and papers published in 25 journals in the area of Physics/Science Education. Nine thematic focuses emerged from the analysis of this material, among which we highlight: coverage level of the information on evasion collected/analyzed, authors used as theoretical references on evasion and conceptualization of evasion. Although the amount of works on the subject has increased in the last decade, there are still few investigated realities. In addition, part of them lacks greater theoretical and methodological robustness. Despite listing the possible causes and ways to minimize dropout, with emphasis on institutional actions, the literature lacks studies that investigate how these actions can act in combating student dropout in Physics Initial Teacher Training courses.
