Abstract

MAXIMO, MARTA. ARTICLE-OPINION: PRESENTATION OF CONCEPTS IN A CHILDREN’S SCIENCE COMMUNICATION BOOK: the case of Isaac no Mundo das Partículas. Ens. Pesqui. Educ. Ciênc. [online]. 2023, vol.25, e44167.  Epub Mar 30, 2023. ISSN 1983-2117.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1983-21172022240139.

This paper is an article-opinion based on the original article Presentation of concepts in a children’s science communication book: the case of Isaac no Mundo das Partículas. The main motivation for this article-opinion is to contribute to the discussions on science communication for children focusing on the book Isaac no Mundo das Partículas, by Elika Takimoto. The following question guided the research: how could the book Isaac no Mundo das Partículas enhance the development of children’s creativity and imagination from a historical-cultural perspective? The theoretical reflections, strongly based on the Vigotskian book Imagination and Creativity in Childhood, allowed us to conclude, among other considerations, that reading or listening to the story of a science communication book broadens children’s experience, thus creating grounds for the development of their imagination, which will be necessary for learning science.

Keywords : Creativity; Imagination; Science Communication.
