Based on some assumptions of Social Technology and the freirean perspective, this research aims to investigate the role of the agronomist in the development of a Productive Backyard in a public school located in the interior of Bahia. The activities were carried out through the interaction between a research group in the field of Science Education and an extension group linked to the area of Agronomy. The information was gathered through audio recordings, slide productions, and written materials produced during the planning and implementation of the Backyard, and was analyzed using Discourse Textual Analysis. Among the results, it was found that the role of the agronomist is linked to identifying the social demands of the community, contributing to the development of Solidary Technoscience (TCS), and can assist in the school’s curriculum planning. Finally, within the context of TCS, the agronomist is understood as a dialogical-problematic technician in Science Education
