Abstract

MACHADO, Ana Maria Netto. From prevention to the valuation of “portunhol”: testimony of a disturbing experience of subjective decolonization. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2018, n.45, pp.101-116.  Epub June 07, 2019. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n45.8310.

In this article, the goal is to share a subjective decolonization experience. Hence the first-person narrative was imposed as a methodological requirement, at least in the testimonial section. The experience had important implications in the academic trajectory and postures of the author. The work is part of the theoretical perspective of decolonialism and aims to contribute to the aspect less debated in the pertinent literature: strategies of detachment from the rhetoric of modernity in its epistemic and subjective dimensions. It is proposed as an invitation to the peers interested in this current of thought, to identify in their itinerants and experiences, processes that reveal transformations, in the arduous collective task of decolonization of knowledge and being (MIGNOLO, 2010), and to externalize them. Such manifestations seem necessary for decolonial thinking to make its effects on practice, education, institutions, social transformations expected for a more just and humane world.

Keywords : Decolonization of Knowledge and Being; Subjective Decolonization; Experience; Decolonial Thinking; Social Transformations.
