Abstract

GUTIERREZ, José Alberto Castellanos; MORA, Ricardo Pérez  and  SANTIAGO, José Alberto Becerra. THE UNIVERSITY IN THE MOBILIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE FOR SOCIAL INCLUSIÓN. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2019, n.49, e13334.  Epub Jan 17, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n49.13334.

The article analyzes the role of the university in the mobilization of knowledge to achieve social inclusion. Some theoretical perspectives on the concept of social inclusion and the role of the university in this matter are reviewed. The methodological approach is based on the category of knowledge mobilization as an analytical and heuristic tool for a better understanding of the phenomenon. Among the main conclusions are the need for the university to assume a central role in the mobilization of knowledge that guarantees the empowerment of vulnerable classes. An important challenge is to achieve the balance between the vulnerable classes and the ruling classes that have economic and political capital that allows them to maintain the social order that benefits them. However, the main challenge is to ensure that the vulnerable classes, themselves, get involved and take ownership of this objective.
