Abstract

BERNARDO, Elisangela da Silva  and  MELLO, Marcia Noronha de. THE SPECIALIZED INSTITUTIONS IN RELATION TO GOAL 4 OF THE PNE 2014-2024: IMPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2019, n.49, e5587.  Epub Jan 17, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n49.5587.

The universalization of primary education with the proposal to include in regular schools people with disabilities will bring up the question of the role of special schools, viewed as segregation environments. The purpose of this article is to point out some actions of Benjamin Constant Institute to overcome such challenges. We bring here some experience reports and a literature review on the topic. Authors like Glat, Mantoan, Lück, Orru and Beyer make up the frame of reference. The article includes data of the research done in 2012 and 2013 at the Benjamin Constant Institut. We consider it important discussion of Goal 4 of the PNE 2014-2024 so we can make an assessment of the process of inclusion of people with disabilities in regular schools and a reassessment of the importance of the specialized schools as effective educational spaces for genuine social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities.
