Abstract

PRADO, Renata Lopes Costa  and  FREITAS, Marcos Cezar de. WOMEN IN LISTENING TO CHILDREN: CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE PROFILE OF WHO RESEARCH WITH CHILDREN IN THE BRAZILIAN HUMAN AND SOCIAL SCIENCES. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2019, n.49, e8427.  Epub Jan 17, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n49.8427.

The social studies of childhood show the growing intention to approach different themes from the perspective of children. Except in very specific cases, children do not participate in conducting research. Who, then, listens to them, interprets and amplifies their voices? Aiming to answer this question, a survey of the articles that reported researches with children in the areas of Anthropology, Education, Psychology and Sociology published by Brazilian journals classified as Qualis A by CAPES, was carried out. Starting from the techniques of content analysis, such articles were then categorized, including in relation to the characteristics of their authors. The numbers show that they are, almost always, female researchers. The article reflects on the implications of this entanglement between women and children and argues that it is fundamental to strengthen lines of research aimed at understanding the ways in which children become a “women’s issue” impacts our knowledge about childhood and, more indirectly, children’s own life.
