This article analyzes the relationship between families and the Institution of Early Childhood Education and has as a major concern the sharing of care and education duties of babies and children from 0 to 5 years old. We aim to answer the following question: what meanings do families construct about the frequency of their children to those institutions? We adopted the comprehensive analysis approach in order to understand the relationships between families and school aiming to clarify the possibilities of care and education sharing as a role of the Early Childhood Education. Our data come from focal groups with the families. The main category discussed is sharing and its constitutive elements. As results, the research revealed that the sharing of children’s care and education has space-time dimensions which go beyond the school’s times and spaces and is related to the process of building trust, safety and wellbeing among children and adults.
