Abstract

ROMAO, José Eustáquio. PAULO FREIRE AND NEOCONSERVATISM. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2020, n.52, e17099.  Epub Jan 29, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n52.17099.

This article reveals the transformation of the metaphor "banking education" - used by Paulo Freire to express the monological and authoritarian educational practices, opposed to the liberating dialogic defended by him - into a true educational policy formulated, implanted and implemented by the contemporary educational conception called "Managerial". " It further demonstrates that the struggle against authoritarian forms of banking education (without quotes) can no longer be confined to classrooms, but must be fought in the larger universe of educational systems, invaded by this true tsunami of the practices of the new process of capitalist accumulation and of their ideologues, who express them through true pedagogical and concretely banking thinking, because they are mercantilist and speculative.
