Abstract

REIS, Marlene Barbosa de Freitas; SOUZA, Carla Salomé Margarida de  and  SANTOS, Lilian Cristina dos. ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY IN MOBILE DEVICES: TEACCH-BASED APPLICATIONS AS AID IN THE PROCESS OF LITERACY WITH AUTISTIC CHILDREN. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2020, n.55, e10652.  Epub Feb 03, 2024. Progressively, the need to resize pedagogical practices emerges, which, in addition to respect for differences, offers learning accessibility to all students. A school with conservative methodologies will hardly achieve good results in the face of special education, placing students with disabilities in conditions of exclusion within the school itself. Assistive Technology (TA) assumes a primordial role in resizing these practices, since it aims at overcoming barriers to learning and independence in the social life of individuals with disabilities or other conditions that generate special needs. This fostered the unease that gave rise to this study: how Assistive Technology associated with Mobile Technology in smartphones and tablets can contribute to learning, specifically with the literacy of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (TEA) in regular school? To respond to this concern, we developed a bibliographical research in such authors as: bell hooks (2013), Reis et. al. (2008), Fonseca and Ciola (2016), Mello (2007), Berch (2007), among others. This article presents one of the main educational methods used in the education of autistic children, the TEACCH and does a survey of the uses of this method in mobile devices. The results point to the contribution of two applications (Lina Educa and ABC Autism) that can be used as pedagogical tools in the learning process of children with ASD, helping to include these children, especially in relation to the literacy process.
