Abstract

MIGUEL, Anivaldo Sérgio  and  SILVA, Natalino Neves da. CLASS COUNCIL, ETHNIC-RACIAL DIVERSITY AND DEMOCRATIC MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2023, n.65, e22637.  Epub Feb 16, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n65.22637.

This article is the result of a research that sought to investigate silencing, erasures and invisibilities related to training for ethnic-racial diversity in the deliberative acts of the class council and in teaching practices. For this, a private school was selected in Varginha, Minas Gerais, which offers, among other levels, high school, the focus of this study. The main methodological procedures used were: literature review, participant observation, semi-structured interview, document analysis. The results achieved indicate that, for the implementation of Law nº. 10.639/03 (updated by Lei nº. 11.645/08) and its Guidelines, it is essential that both the council’s deliberations and the implementation of teaching practices are guided by democratic, participatory and anti-racist processes.

Keywords : class council; education of ethnic-racial relations; high school..
