School-based educational practices take place on the basis of some guidelines that gradually consolidated the school format as we know it today. The materialities we use to deploy school activities and the pedagogical-political aims or goals with which we orientate them are part of the aforementioned guidelines. In this paper, in the light of the experiences cultivated in Ronda de Palabras (Argentina), we want to propose a discussion with these two major educational assumptions that seem to be inflexible when we think about the more conventional schooling. In the first part, we will present a critical analysis of the philosophical novels written by Matthew Lipman for the implementation of his Philosophy for Children (P4C) project. Although this is a discussion specific to the field of philosophy teaching, we believe that some of its elements can be generalized to think about the pedagogical relationships we build with the materialities on which we base our educational practices, and their political implications. In the second part, we will analyze some contributions made by the more critical appraisals of Lipman's P4C in order to think about what we call pedagogical-political goals in the title of this paper. That is, we will try to put in tension those ideas that orient and organize pedagogical interventions in a determinate way. With this, we invite to think about the relationships that politics and education weave together.
