Abstract

LAMARRA, Norberto Fernández  and  CENTENO, Cristian Pérez. La profesión académica universitaria en América Latina, en perspectiva comparada. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2011, vol.36, n.03, pp.351-363. ISSN 1984-6444.

The study of academic profession as a field of knowledge has had a renewed and increasing development in the last 30 years worldwide, from a new conceptualization of its traditional epistemological perspective. This paper presents the situation of the university academic profession in Latin America, from the findings of the CAP Project (Changing Academic Profession) from a comparative perspective, for the cases of Argentina, Brazil and Chile. This analysis considers the Higher Education current contexts and problems in the region, in the frame of the new political, academic and social responsibility, that the universities of these countries are assuming or should have taken on.

Keywords : University Academic Profession; Comparative Education; Latin America.
