Understanding what school is in the formation of the symbolic thought of the students is our challenge. So the present article aims to perceive childhood through the child's gaze so as to take into account the otherness of the same, legitimizing it how to be able to reflect when narrating their experiences and for this way to bring important information about the schools of childhood and about the child-subject. For that, a field research was carried out with students from Early Childhood Education and Early Years of a state college located in the city of Londrina, Paraná aiming to understand the perception of children from the ages of 4 to 10, regarding school and Functionality in human training and learning. In terms of the methodology of work, this study was based on bibliographical and field research, having as parameter the qualitative approach, which used the narrative as an instrument of data collection. At the end of the research, it can be verified that the school has to re-signify its school time and space, allowing the student the capacity to independently construct and transform the activity of one's own life to be its true social subject the very transformation of the learning space that still stands to an organization that does not allow interaction and dialogue in favor of the human knowledge and formation.
