Abstract

PUENTES, Roberto Valdés. A new approach to the Theory of Developmental Learning. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2019, vol.44, e37312.  Epub Nov 11, 2020. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644437312.

The article offers a new approach to psychological and didactic theory conceived in the Soviet period with the term "Развивающее обучение" and which has traditionally been translated in the West as "Developmental Teaching",“Enseñanza desarrollante” or "Ensino desenvolvimental". The article proves from original sources that, unlike "teaching", "teaching" and "teaching", the most adequate translation in the developmental perspective for the Russian term "обучение" (obutchenie) is learning. Secondly, that the question is much more serious because it is not only a problem of translation but an understanding of the theoretical and methodological foundations of the developmental conception which has led one to ignore that psychic activity, which is the content of this conception, can not be taught but learned by the student himself when he emerges as subject in a specific type of study activity that fosters collaborative and autonomous developmental learning. The article changes the current way of understanding the existing types of learning, the role of Didactics, as well as the role of the teacher and students within this theory.
