Abstract

BITTENCOURT, Nadir de Fátima Borges; ALBERTO, Maria de Fatima Pereira  and  SANTOS, Antonio Cezar da Costa. PROEJA in IFMT: Inclusion or exclusion possibilities?. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2019, vol.44, e35818.  Epub Nov 11, 2020. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644435818.

This article presents some factors of exclusion and inclusion of PROEJA students of Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Mato Grosso - IFMT from data of a qualitative and other quantitative research. As a theoretical basis, we used the historical-cultural theory of Vygotsky (1993), which conceives the human being historical and socially constructed. The sample included 184 participants, students (young and old) and teachers of PROEJA program in IFMT, in the period from 2010 to 2013. Qualitative data were analyzed using the discursive practices of Spink (2004), with maps of Association and interpretative repertoires; and for quantitative data were used the SPSS. The data showed that there are factors in the operationalization of PROEJA possibilities of inclusion, as great social impact, recovery of education, effective citizenship and inclusion in the workplace. On the other hand, no contextualization of the contents, no flexibility of courses, not suitable curricula and the lack of teachers’ training may discourage the student and lead to exclusion.
