ROCKETT, Ananda Nocchi; LUNA, José Marcelo Freitas  and  GUERRA, Antônio Fernando Silveira. Environmental Education and Consumerism: considerations on actions taken by Terra Clean. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2019, vol.44, e31853.  Epub Nov 11, 2020. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644431853.

The present article focuses on Environmental Education actions on consumerism, developed by the Terra Limpa - Educação Ambiental Program, created in 1998, in Balneário Camboriú. From the literature review about the Program, the following emerges as a gap: studies on consumerism. For this purpose, we analyzed the Action Plans of the Program, from 2012 to 2016. The present research has as general objective to indicate the Environmental Education actions that has been developed by the Program, around the consumerism. Specifically, this article has the following objectives: to indicate the actions foreseen in these documents; and understand how they are developed. This article has a qualitative methodological orientation, the technique used was the documentary research, and the way for the interpretation of the collected data was the Análise de Conteúdo. The results, so far, showed that the actions as conscious consumption, solid waste and recycling are included in the Program. The ways in which the Program develops its actions are through lectures, workshops, promotion of environmental management in schools, consultancy for students, development of campaigns and awareness activities. Based on what this study demonstrates, the reflection on the Environmental Education actions that have been developed by the Terra Limpa Program, in relation to the consumerism, can point out new possibilities, and maybe direct these activities, more and more to the formation of critical, reflexive and strengthened subjects to exercise their citizenship.
