GALVAO, Vanessa Caroline Ferreira  y  ZIBETTI, Marli Lúcia Tonatto. Schooling of students in private schools: a study of the maternal perspective. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2020, vol.45, e35352.  Epub 19-Jul-2023. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644435352.

This article is part of research developed as a master's thesis and aims to analyze the forms of follow-up developed by the families to the schooling of the children who attend the 6th and 7th grade in private schools. The qualitative study had the participation of 10 mothers whose sons and daughters study in five different schools in Porto Velho - RO. The data were produced through semi-structured interviews and analyzed considering the socioeconomic context, the constitution of families and the stage of schooling in which the students are. The results indicate that mothers are the main responsible for meeting the schooling needs of the children and develop different follow-up actions, which were organized into three categories: actions at home (actions with parental assistance and actions in the weeks of tests); actions with the school and outsourcing actions. It is concluded that the care with the schooling of sons and daughters is predominantly female in the families surveyed, although they are economically active women. The high schooling of the families, the social valorization of the school and the close monitoring are factors that contribute to the school success in this context.
