Abstract

COSTA, Conceição Leal da; PASSEGGI, Maria da Conceição  and  ROCHA, Simone Maria da. For a sensitive listening of the children with chronic diseases. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2020, vol.45, e40240.  Epub Aug 29, 2023. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644440240.

Admitting that the child has the assured right to express himself / herself on issues that concern him or her, the purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of taking into account the words of children with chronic diseases, to hear what they have to say about the experiences they have experienced in the crossings between health and illness, school and hospital. The research was carried out with six hospitalized children, using a make-believe situation. The theoretical basis is based on Jerome Bruner's proposals on the child's ability to become a narrator and Paul Ricoeur's studies on human activity to understand himself / herself when giving meaning to the experience lived, and in a certain view of learning for well-being (KICKBUSCH, 2012). The analyzes allow us to discuss the child's agentivity, his capacity to welcome the other, the importance of the hospital classes for their well-being and how they become "experts" living together with the disease in the peculiar transitions of their child's condition in living with the sickness.

Keywords : Children with chronic diseases; Hospital classes; Narratives.
