Abstract

FERRARI, Douglas Christian  and  LUIZ, Miriã Lúcia. History teaching and Special Education in initial teacher training. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2021, vol.46, e42847.  Epub Oct 17, 2023. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644442847.

The paper focuses on the teaching of History and Special Education, considering the challenges of historically excluded groups from schooling processes and who, even after their insertion in schools, suffer the denial of elementary conditions of access, permanence and the right to learn in History. The study starts from the assumptions of the Historical-Cultural Theory, notably from Vigotski's thought (1989; 1994; 1997) to problematize the social production of disability and fundamental notions to think about the development and learning processes. Also, it comprises the scope of the text, an approach regarding the Teaching of History and the elaboration of concepts considered fundamental for historical learning (BITTENCOURT, 2009; SCHIMDT, 1999). There are still many gaps and weaknesses that distance students with disabilities from school and academic knowledge, and these aspects include public policies, teacher training, infrastructure of institutions, and educational spaces in general. The alternatives mentioned here signal actions promoted towards a less exclusive history teaching and more sensitive to different learning paths.

Keywords : Special education; History teaching; Historical-cultural theory.
