This study sought to map how the pedagogical training in stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs and the training of professors of higth education in the area of Biological Sciences are presented in the context of the academic production of Brazilian Postgraduate Programs. For this, we conducted a literature search, using the principles of the construction of State of Knowledge from the perspective of Morosini (2015). The same it was fulfilled started on works published on the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations platform of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology. We guided our research based on two search descriptors: “pedagogical training in stricto sensu postgraduate courses” and “training for teaching in biological sciences”, we also tried to subsidize two guiding questions. Our findings point to the recognition, by professors and/or researchers, of the fragility of pedagogical training to work in higher education. In most cases, the need to articulate knowledge in the specific area with pedagogical knowledge is emphasized. However, it is also perceived the difficulty in overcoming the paradigm that those who know how to do, know how to teach, contributing to the reproduction of traditional teaching practices, based on positivist logic, and to the few importance given to pedagogical training. The theoretical discussion made use of the contributions of Morosini (2015), Almeida and Pimenta (2014), Cunha (2008) among others.
