The healthofuniversityprofessorshasbecomeanobjectofinvestigation in recentyears in viewofthegrowingincrease in theillnessofthis professional category. Withtheobjectiveofmap, analyze, synthesizeandintegratetheknowledgeproducedaboutthehealth-illnessprocess, a searchofthedissertationsandthesesproducedonthesubject in thelast 20 yearswascarried out. 72 studies (16 thesesand 56 dissertations) werefound in theCatalogofThesesandDissertationsoftheCoordination for theImprovementofHigherEducationPersonnel (CTD / CAPES), withthekeywords “teachers' health” and “teachers' illness”. Fromtheseworks, 19 studies (10 dissertationsand 9 theses) wereselected for analysis, whichhaduniversityprofessors as subjects. It isconcludedthatthethemeofhealthandillnessofuniversityprofessorsis still littleinvestigated, thatstudiesprioritizeillnessandnothealth, andthatworkingconditions are themain causes pointedtoillness.
