This study aimed to analyze the evasion in the technical course in agriculture integrated to the high school of IF Sudeste MG - Rio Pomba campus, focusing on the Program of Attendance to Students in Low Socioeconomic Condition offered by this institution. The theoretical-methodological option of the study was based on the qualitative approach, making use of bibliographic and documentary analysis. The information was collected in the archives of the secretariat of technical education, in the pedagogical guidance sector and in the social service sector of the Rio Pomba campus. As results of this research, there is a small percentage (19.75%) of students who evaded and were attended by the student assistance program, when compared to the total number of evaded students in the period studied(2013-2019).The data also show other causes related by the students, for their departure from the institution (disinterest in the course, jubilation and the longing of the family). As results of this research, we perceived the attendances in student assistance as strong allies for school stay and dropout in this course not having a direct connection with the non-attendance of student assistance. On the other hand, these results may show us that the student assistance policy of this campus has been fulfilling its role, which is to minimize the rates of dropout and contribute to better conditions of school stay.
