Abstract

SILVA JUNIOR, Alcidesio Oliveira da  and  MAKNAMARA, Marlécio. Cinema and education: scripts, scenes and takes in their research. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2024, vol.49, e74699.  Epub Aug 13, 2025. ISSN 1984-6444.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644474699.

The dialogue between cinema and education does not carry an isolated, unique meaning, but is in constant dispute, operating through different theoretical trends that fine-tune the silhouettes of this meeting. Through a literature review between the years 2014 and 2021 in the Capes Catalog of Theses & Dissertations, a scientific journal and in annals of events, this article aims to understand how the relationships between cinema and education have been drawn between researchers brazilians in these fields. To this end, the metaphor of the firefly is used in the understanding that all production of knowledge is like lights in the air that carry their fragility, provisionality and sense of urgency. The results point to three more frequent approaches in studies: cinema as and for teacher training; cinema as a didactic resource; and cinema as an aesthetic experience. Research draws lines that lead one to think that an experience with films can be much more than enjoyment, entertainment or leisure, but an undoing of instituted and naturalized forms that prevent the breath of a more fruitful existence.
